Google has opened a new window for African undergraduates by giving 12 months of free access to its premium AI tools. Students in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, and Mozambique can now use advanced tools that support learning, research, and digital creativity at no cost.
The goal is simple. Give young Africans the skills to build, compete, and innovate on a global level. According to Alex Okosi, Managing Director for Google in Sub-Saharan Africa, the company is working to make technology more accessible so that students can grow their abilities and shape the future of the continent.

Why it matters
This offer gives students access to tools that support better grades, deeper research, and stronger digital skills. It may also help uncover new talent, just as seen with young innovators like Obinna Chimdi, a Nigerian student who built an app that converts any website into an AI-enabled platform.
If you are a student in any of the eligible countries, this is a useful chance to build skills that can open doors in technology, research, and future job opportunities.
